Scared of the Light

The past couple of days have been awful since our plans of getting home by 23rd December shot to hell. As you may know, the biggest airports in Europe have been a big mess lately because of ice and snowfall (everyone from Finland you may laugh now).

So yesterday we decided to cancel our flights through Heathrow (the worst situation was there of course) and buy new flights from Genève, Switzerland, to Finland. So tomorrow we take a train first to Genève and then fly to Riga and from there to Oulu. I just wanna get home already.

Packing has been quite a pain in the ass today. Luckily we could borrow a scale from my dear French friend and could decide what to take and what not to take. I had to leave 8 kilos of stuff behind - which means that I'll be seen in Lyon next spring! Yay!

All in all it's weird to say goodbye because I've been gone for such a long time and living here feels like I've always been here. I shared the best moments with the Finnish gang and all the Atlantis and Erasmus people and this definitely was an opportunity of a lifetime, even though it didn't always feel like that (strikes, riots, traffic jams, buses that didn't run because of snow, bureaucracy, stupid French people etc). But what I'm always going to look back on, will be the awesome people I got to meet here from all the different countries, the friends I made, the places I saw, the concerts I went to, shopping at Part Dieu, the parties we had (especially our house parties) and all the funny stupid things that we did and got to encounter during our stay here.

Thank you for everybody who read my blog during my time here and please stay with me a little while longer while I finish and publish all the entries that I haven't yet had time to post here. It's been awesome :)

There's a party over here!

We had last classes today woohoo! Now I only have 4 exams left and I have to pass them all which is a bit of a problem. Anyway, just because I'm on a festive mood, here are some pictures from recent parties.

One night at one Spanish girl's apartment.

And after that at KGB. Always so much fun (or not).

Some random night with random guys about a month ago.

Three weeks ago we had a huge and probably the last houseparty in our apartment and it was so much fun.

Running Man!

Finnish girls feat. a Spanish guy haha.

I'm trying to get the light festival (Fête des Lumières) pictures up here asap :) Now I'm going to start looking for some school handouts, should be interesting with the impressive A4 pile that I've collected during the past 3½ months.

On and on and on and on

Some pictures from the time that my Finnish friend was hanging out here.

One Monday (or doomsday) we went to Ayers Rock, which is an Australian bar here.

Because it happened to be his last night here, I wanted to buy us some kick ass drinks and these ones were called Long Beach Ice Tea. Well I maybe shouldn't have gotten these because the night didn't end too well haha.

We also met some of my Spanish friends there :)

The night of the Four Year Strong we went to this weird ass rock club I'd been to before and we played some table football. That was so much fun! It was raining, hence the hair.

We also made the compulsory visit to Parc de la Tête D'Or and for the first time ever I saw the leopard up close and how beautiful is that thing! Could I get a cat like this plz? Anyone?

Some photos of my fav animals.

Cutie :)

So I've totally lost track of what I have and haven't blogged about. Our Finnish friend from Spain is visiting us this week and we went out last night and the whole night was such a huge disaster I'm not kidding. We ended up taking a cab around 4a.m. after a long walk in the freezing weather. Lately this whole country has sucked big time. I hope it gets better soon and I can go back to enjoying my life.

A week ago we had lots of snow and Wednesday it was +18'c. Is that considered normal?!

Quand on arrive à comprendre

So we didn't make it to 5 posts this week but 4 is pretty well for me too. I've had an amazing weekend, on Friday we ended up going out and having a good time at a Russian bar and yesterday I went to the concert of Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!, Can't Bear This Party and At Last You Can Fall. I have to say that this was the best concert I've gone so far here and maybe the best one I've ever been to, which is weird because all the bands I saw last night were French and not some very well known super groups.

The crowd was totally insane! One girl next to me fainted and another one apparently broke her nose, that was super scary.

At the end of their set people from the audience went to the stage and sang the rest of the last song with the band, that was so cool. And the crowdsurfing was totally out of hand haha.

Sorry for posting so many similar pictures of the bass player but he was sooooo hot! Why don't we have those in Finland? Or actually: why was I born in the wrong country?

This was cute as well.

At the moment Chunk is one of my favourite bands ever, they're basically all I've been listening to for the past month or so and I love their songs and their sound.

Haha I really was a tornado last night, I don't remember taking this picture but I guess the idea behind this was to take of picture of that No Guts No Glory sticker haha. I know one dude who plays in that band and they were supposed to play this summer in Finland too!

This last picture is once again from the Soon Night site. We went to Ayers Rock last Monday and got photographed once again haha. They had all cocktails for 4€ only, super cheap. And goood!

So that was a nice weekend all in all. Yesterday I realized once again how much I love it here. I don't get to experience the culture that I feel I belong to to this extent in Finland. I hardly ever get to see good bands or hang out with people who all share my taste in music or get to be paid for drinks the whole night haha. One word: AMAZING!

Semi Charmed Life

Many people here have said that we have the best parties. Here's a tribute to the most recent one that took place about 2 or 3 weeks ago (yea probably three I'm not really on the map here anymore but anyway).

Well.. there are just no words for this shot. How can someone look like that? Haha.

Dear roomies

Me and the Spanish girls.

Hehe this post was nothing special but I just thought I'd share some of my good moments here. It's kinda scary that we only have 48 days or something left of this trip and I don't really know how to orientate myself back to the Finnish life anymore because the time I've spent here has gone by so smoothly.

Tomorrow maybe some shopping, sangria and dancing on the boat :) Have a nice weekend everybody!

The hissing subsides, I'm in luck

I can't believe how fast this weekend went by! Yesterday I went out with my fellow Finnish blogger, Lotta, and some of my exchange student friends. The bar we went to was a really weird Russian bar in the middle of nowhere but yea it was fun anyway :) Even though tequila on the rocks wasn't the brightest idea for a drink haha. Today I've been sleeping and watching a Harry Potter movie on my laptop, really nice for a lazy Sunday.

Anyway, let's go a little bit back to a very nice Monday evening (11th Oct), when I went to see You Me at Six, Kids In Glass Houses and Ten Second Epic.

Ten Second Epic

The first band, Ten Second Epic, was a really nice Canadian band. The singer reminded me a bit of Disco Ensemble's Miikka and I was so happy throughout the whole gig because I really miss Disco Ensemble and I'm sad that I missed their gig here in France. A really nice energetic band live :)

Kids In Glass Houses

The second band, Kids in Glass Houses, was good as well. I've been listening to them for 2 years now so it was about time to see them live :)

You Me At Six

The last band, You Me At Six, well they're amazing but I think many people in Finland know them already :) Their show was very energetic and fun to watch.

After the gig we went to a bar called Cosmopolitan with the guys and I accidentally ran into my roommate there as well haha. We got photographed once again, funny :) A really nice night out that was, very eventful for a Monday!

I'm so glad that there are so many good shows to go to here, I don't really even mind losing all my money because of them haha. Next week I'm going to see bands on three different days: Hawthorne Heights and We Are The Ocean on Wed, Devil Sold His Soul on Sat and maybe Sick Of It All on Tue :)
