An ocean of lights

Hello peeps, long time no see! I've been really lazy with blogging lately so I thought that next week I'm going to post at least 5 times, no excuses! Let's see how that goes. At least I have some stuff to post about.

So the fall break will be over tomorrow and we have to go back to school. It's also weird that it's going to be November tomorrow! It sure doesn't feel like it.

This year I didn't really do anything for Halloween because I kinda felt like doing nothing, dunno why. Anyway, yesterday I went to a Devil Sold His Soul concert. I took some pretty impressive photos, I was at the front row so I was able to take decent photos and also the band had some pretty nice illumination systems going on so I didn't have to use flash (which I hate as some of you may know).

This is my absolute favourite shot, I really love the way the photo is blurred.

Looks like I went to some pretty intense metal show last night haha, which wasn't the case at all. Just some intense rocking going on.

Oh and the band is British, I really liked their show. Next week I'm going to go see some French bands for a change (this time they don't all go under the same name tho: nul). Should be fun!

AND I bought my interrail pass for the week after next week so Italy and Germany, here I come! Got some Finnish company for the trip in Italy as well, I'm sooooo excited about this all. If SNCF is going to have another strike during my trip I'm seriously going to have someone killed haha.

Happy halloween people! Hope yours was better than mine.

The hissing subsides, I'm in luck

I can't believe how fast this weekend went by! Yesterday I went out with my fellow Finnish blogger, Lotta, and some of my exchange student friends. The bar we went to was a really weird Russian bar in the middle of nowhere but yea it was fun anyway :) Even though tequila on the rocks wasn't the brightest idea for a drink haha. Today I've been sleeping and watching a Harry Potter movie on my laptop, really nice for a lazy Sunday.

Anyway, let's go a little bit back to a very nice Monday evening (11th Oct), when I went to see You Me at Six, Kids In Glass Houses and Ten Second Epic.

Ten Second Epic

The first band, Ten Second Epic, was a really nice Canadian band. The singer reminded me a bit of Disco Ensemble's Miikka and I was so happy throughout the whole gig because I really miss Disco Ensemble and I'm sad that I missed their gig here in France. A really nice energetic band live :)

Kids In Glass Houses

The second band, Kids in Glass Houses, was good as well. I've been listening to them for 2 years now so it was about time to see them live :)

You Me At Six

The last band, You Me At Six, well they're amazing but I think many people in Finland know them already :) Their show was very energetic and fun to watch.

After the gig we went to a bar called Cosmopolitan with the guys and I accidentally ran into my roommate there as well haha. We got photographed once again, funny :) A really nice night out that was, very eventful for a Monday!

I'm so glad that there are so many good shows to go to here, I don't really even mind losing all my money because of them haha. Next week I'm going to see bands on three different days: Hawthorne Heights and We Are The Ocean on Wed, Devil Sold His Soul on Sat and maybe Sick Of It All on Tue :)

I'll be there just to watch you fall

Hello everybody! We started our fall break here today and so far we haven't done anything. Two of my roommates are travelling around Europe but I'm stuck here because of financial problems (as in not enough money to travel). But I'm not complaining, there are some pretty sweet shows to go to next week and Lyon is never boring :) I'm also planning a trip to Germany and Italy for next month, I hope it'll happen!

Yesterday we started the vacation with what was supposed to be a girls night but turned into one with the boys, hehe. We ate tortillas, drank some tequila and just talked and chilled. Lovely

Here are some older pictures that I haven't posted here yet.

One day a few weeks ago at Pimkie's. I don't know why I always have to take those mirror pics, so lame :D Anyway, I really liked that day's outfit.

I really want a black-white-grey checkered shirt. No exceptionally nice one has come around yet though. Waiting for the perfect one *fingers crossed*.

And here's some shopping that I've done during the past few weeks. Nothing too much because I don't wanna spend all my money on shopping. These all are just pretty much what my closet was lacking.

A black knitted circle scarf from H&M. I really needed something warm around my neck, it's getting cold here! I was just so pissed off at myself when I realized (at home, too late) that this is partially made from acryl that I really hate because it starts to look awful so soon. I should have known better!

This is also something I really wanted to have in my closet, a white shirt that is slightly transparent. Looks really nice with a simple black top under it matched with black or gray jeans. Now all I need for this is a narrow brown leather belt but where to start looking for one...

I also needed a basic black long-sleeved shirt. The ruffled sleeves are just a bonus ;)

I also needed some new leggings that could be worn with almost anything and these were perfect for that cause.

Well, a girl can never have too many necklaces, right? ;)

These all I found from Mim's and couldn't resist because they had mid-season sale as well and it's funny how all these clothes match together so well. Both the dress and the striped bolero cost only 7€ each.

The golden elephant pendant cost 7€ as well and I just had to get it because I love elephants and it was so cute!

I also found nice basic shoes from Mim's and they cost only 9€. I really needed shoes like this.

I was bored the other night and took some random pictures. This one goes for my dear Taru who wanted to see pictures of normal food that she can't get haha :D This is my typical snack in the evening. The bread is the only thing closest to Finnish bread that you can find here. The yoghurt is divine, there's no such a thing like this in Finland, I'm going to miss that! Vegetables and fruits are nice here so I try to eat them as much as possible. Kiwi is my new favourite.

Oh and the wine.. Well that's what they drink in France! Not a part of my usual evening snack though, believe it or not.

Things are getting back to normal here In The France. I hope the trains, metros and buses start running normally soon. Waiting for the next strike then!

Enjoy your fall break those of you who have it now!

Dear France, today I hate you

Past couple of days in Lyon and in France in general have been pretty intense. People have gone totally mental over the fact that Sarkozy is going to raise the age of retirement from 60 to 62 (!!! Finnish people would be more than excited about that).

All these pictures are taken here in Lyon yesterday. I got them from here.

The main streets of the city look pretty much like this. Today I walked 5km from school to home because all the metro stations were inaccessible. Well, guess I have no choice but to stay home today (again) and wait for the situation to normalize. Le Figaro says that it's going to normalize within 5 days so let's hope for the best! Nice way to start the vacation :)

This video was shot here yesterday at Place Bellecour (one of the main areas here and the metro that I take to school everyday goes from here).

November gets closer and every year it gets a little bit colder

Crap, I haven't posted anything for a week now! I was going to last night but surprise, surprise, the internet didn't work last night.

About a week ago we visited a really pretty place called L'Ile Barbe, which is a really small island not too far from our place in the middle of the river Saône.

It was really pretty and warm that day but it's so weird how all the leaves have already turned red and yellow. Now the weather isn't that nice outside, +8'c which is pretty much as cold as in Finland, right?

We were just sitting on the rocks and enjoying the awesome weather for a couple of hours :) It was so nice!

L'Ile Barbe consists of old buildings and forts. I'm not really that aware of the island's history but some people still live on that island today. Impressive :)

I would have so many things to post about but for some reason I've been really lazy lately with this blog! Hope it gets better soon :)
